Chai Poached Pears

6 ripe pears, peeled, halved, and cored
4 cups water
2 chai tea bags
1 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon ginger
juice of 1 lemon

Bring water to a boil
add tea, sugar, lemon, and ginger and let simmer for 3 minutes
remove tea bags
add pears and reduce heat to a simmer
cook uncovered for 15-20 minutes depending on the ripeness of the pears
