1 cup + 2 tablespoons water, divided
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup soy sauce
1-2 tablespoons honey
1 large clove of garlic, finely minced
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1 tablespoon cornstarch

Combine the cup of water, brown sugar, soy sauce, honey, garlic and ginger in a saucepan and set over medium heat
in a bowl, combine the cornstarch with the extra 2 tablespoons water and stir until dissolved
stir the cornstarch mixture to the sauce
heat the sauce until it thickens

If the sauce becomes too thick, thin it with a splash of more water.
