Self-Rising Biscuits – A small batch

December 24, 2012 at 5:19 pm Leave a comment

2 cups self-rising flour
1/4 cup cold butter, cut pieces (or shortening)
3/4 cup cold dairy (milk, buttermilk, and/or cream)

Preheat the oven to 425°

Work the butter into the flour, just until crumbs are the size of large peas

Add dairy and stir until the mixture holds together and leaves the sides of the bowl

Dump the dough onto a well-floured surface, and fold it over on itself several times, using more flour as needed to prevent sticking.

Pat the dough into a circle, about 1/2″ to 3/4″ thick

Cut biscuits with a round 2″ cutter
pat the scraps together, and cut additional biscuits

Place the biscuits on an ungreased baking sheet
bake for 10 to 14 minutes, or until they’re a light golden brown

Yields 6 biscuits

It's #latke season one and all! Happy #hannukah to you and yours. A #smallbatch of course. #audreycancook #latkelove I bought a fake tree and it's a Coast Redwood. Let the #decorating begin. #christmas in #California #christmastree #decorations #nofilter required when smoke from the #thomasfire envelopes the area. Wonderful canoe ride on #morrobay not Mars. Tx @akayakshack for the rental. Look forward to next time. #audreycancook Finally, only one sleeve to go on this project. I'm grateful that #noroyarn is sturdy, since I've #frogged the body of this sweater twice and the first sleeve three time. Can I say #homestretch now? #knittersofinstagram #knitting #audreycancook Sometimes a #toastedmarshmallow over an open flame is the only thing to satisfy. #audreycancook There are just never enough #teddybears. #knitting #knittersofinstagram #audreycancook
