Swedish Meatball – A small batch

1/2 pound ground beef
1 slice of bread, cubed
1/4 cup milk
1/4 cup parsley, chopped
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
salt and pepper
1 egg, well beaten
oil for sauteing

3/4 cup water
1 tablespoon butter
1 tablespoon flour
1/2 cup of beef stock

Soak cubed bread in milk
when fully hydrated, mash well with a fork
add meat, egg, parsley, and seasonings
combine well and form it into 1.5 inch meatballs

Brown the meatballs over high heat in a skillet
just brown the outsides, no need to cook through, since they will cook completely in the gravy

While the meatballs are browning make the gravy

In a saucepan melt butter and then add flour and whisk
add stock and water, whisking well to remove lumps

Add gravy to the meatballs
cover and simmer the meatballs for approximately 30 minutes
